About Us
Elizabeth Warren, Violin
Elizabeth Warren graduated from Sarah Lawrence College where she studied violin performance and creative writing. With over 25 years of playing experience, she has performed with Opera a La Carte Los Angeles, the Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Temple Symphony Orchestra, Golden Hornet Project, New Music Co-op and the Imbroglio String Quartet. She is an active freelancer and teacher in the Austin area, and recently toured internationally with Bill Callahan.
Valerie Graves, Violin
Valerie received her Masters of Music Degree from the University of Texas where she studied with Leonard Posner. She currently plays with the Austin Symphony as well as the Temple Symphony. She has performed solo recitals, chamber music and orchestra concerts all over the United States and in Germany. Currently she teaches at the Armstrong Community Music School.
Michael Harris, Viola, Classical Guitar, Violin
Mike earned the degrees Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from North Texas State University (UNT). He has performed extensively as a soloist as well as in bands, playing in most of the major cities of the U.S. He began playing piano at age 5 and was playing guitar in bands by age twelve. He has experience in composition and arranging as well as engineering and producing recorded music. Mike has been a music instructor since 1978, holding positions at UNT, St. Stephen's School, The Childbloom Company, Austin Guitar School, Three Muses School and Austin Piano & Strings Studio, which he established in 1984 and operates with his wife, Wendy, a pianist.
Terry Muir, Cello
Terry graduated from the Northwest School in 1983 and later attended the Eastman School of Music, followed by several years of intensive study with the eminent Russian cellist Raya Garbousova at Northern Illinois University. Terry has founded, directed, managed and performed with chamber music series and festivals in Seattle, Boise and Austin. He has been a frequent soloist with orchestras and a guest artist on chamber music series throughout the country, as well as a substitute cellist with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Austin Symphony, Boise Philharmonic and Tampa Opera.
Lori Faerber, Cello
Lori has taught private cello lesson since 1982. Having started with piano, then violin lessons since age 8, she played cello for fun in a summer program when she was 16 and fell in love. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Weber State University and her Masters of Science from the University of Utah in Social Work and Music Education. Her love of the cello caught on and both her adult children play cello as well. She moved to Texas in 2001, and is so happy to live in Austin, and feels blessed to run Austin Strings.
